Some of the most meaningful sessions I photograph aren’t tied to a wedding day at all; they’re celebrations of love after the vows, once life has unfolded and a story has already been written. This Santorini anniversary session was exactly that.
Photographed in Santorini, this session marked a return to one of my past wedding couples; an intentional pause to celebrate their marriage, reflect on the years they’ve shared, and create imagery rooted in experience rather than expectation. Anniversary sessions like this often carry a different kind of depth: quieter, more present, and beautifully unforced.
Santorini is one of the most sought-after destinations for engagement photos, and it’s easy to understand why. The island’s whitewashed architecture, cliffside pathways, and expansive views over the Aegean Sea create a setting that feels both iconic and intimate. The light here is soft yet dimensional; especially in the early morning and at golden hour; allowing moments to unfold naturally without interruption.
Much of this session took place in Oia, a village that has become synonymous with Oia wedding photography and destination celebrations in Greece. Wandering through narrow stone streets, quiet corners, and open overlooks, the experience felt less like a photoshoot and more like a shared walk; space to reconnect, to laugh, and to simply be together.
Because this couple had already trusted me with their wedding day, there was an ease and familiarity that shaped the entire session. There was no rush, no pressure; just intentional movement through beautiful spaces, allowing light, texture, and emotion to guide the imagery. These are the kinds of sessions that feel timeless not because of the location alone, but because of the connection being documented.
While Santorini is often associated with engagement photos and destination weddings, anniversary sessions here are a powerful reminder that love stories don’t end after the wedding day. Whether you’re celebrating one year or many, returning to a place as evocative as Oia creates space for reflection; and imagery that feels layered, personal, and lasting.
If you’re dreaming of engagement photos in Santorini, Oia wedding photography, or an anniversary session that feels more like an experience than a production, I’m always happy to guide couples through what that could look like; thoughtfully, calmly, and with intention.
